This week we're shining the spotlight on Manasi 7; the first clean beauty brand as part of our growing assortment.
Designed and developed in Stockholm by Susanne Manasi, a professional makeup artist, the brand merges the performance of conventional beauty with the nourishing properties of natural and organic ingredients. The brand's mission is to create the highest quality products possible, all while abiding by their "Declaration of 7"; the foundation of their values, vision, responsibilities, and core building blocks.
When researching makeup brands to add to our assortment, we were on the lookout for products that were not only natural and formulated with clean ingredients, but that also performed extremely well, similar to conventional beauty products. This proved to be challenging for a few reasons;
- There are many natural makeup brands out there, but they don't always pass the clean ingredient scan.
Before we sample potential brands, we scan the brand's ingredient list as the initial step in our process. We can be attracted to a brand's style, assortment, color selections, etc. but they don't always pass this test. Ingredients like phenoxyethanol, used as a preservative in skincare and cosmetics, can be a potential skin irritant and is an ingredient we don't accept. Other common ingredients like synthetic fragrances can trigger allergies. Therefore, going through ingredient lists with a fine-tooth comb is a crucial and necessary step in our brand selection.
- When they do pass the ingredient test, they don't always perform well.
Concealers breaking up? Lip colors more diluted than you thought? We've been through those frustrations as well! Locating a natural makeup brand that performs as well as the conventional ones is rare to find, but they do exist. This brings us to Manasi 7.
When we came across Manasi 7, we were first attracted to their sleek aesthetic; the neutral colors of their sustainable packaging, their simple, understated and minimal look. After testing their product offering extensively, we were hooked. The texture of their products, the formulas, the high-colour pay offs, and more importantly their performance impressed us beyond belief.
Manasi 7 Etruscan All Over Colour, $74: This timeless antique rose colour made us fall in love with blush all over again. The closest colour to a natural flush, it melts into skin and delivers a flawless natural looking finish. We've been using this most often as a blush, but it's also great as eyeshadow and lipstick/stain, and suitable for all skin tones. It's a great gateway product when delving into natural makeup.
Manasi 7 Sunrise Strobelighter, $75.50: This peachy pearl pink highlighter creates a universally flattering look and suits all skin tones. The formula feels like frosting; glides onto skin with ease and melts to create the desired look. Swipe it on top of the cheekbones, the brow bones, the bridge of the nose, and the cupid's bow to achieve a natural-looking glow. But it doesn't stop there; it can also be used as a primer for the "glow from within" look or as an enhancer to a simple All Over Colour lip look.
Manasi 7 Chamoisee & Kobicha All Over Colours, $74 each: The Neutrals. Not only can these beauties be used for lips, they can also double as blush, bronzer, or eyeshadow; impressive 4-in-1 products. When a colour like Chamoisee is dabbed on the cheeks, it's effect is the perfect "no-makeup makeup" look. Kobicha is a great neutral lip for darker skintones, and can also provide that coveted 90's lip look for lighter skintones. Use as you wish, there are infinite ways to use these must-haves.
Investing in quality is a top priority for us; just like apparel from a fast fashion brand or a higher-end brand, you pay for the quality you get. These products are investment pieces; basic must-haves for your makeup "wardrobe". And they last longer; because of their high colour pay-off, you don't need much product to achieve your desired look.
We're sure you will fall in love with this natural and organic beauty brand as much as we have. Check out the rest of our Manasi 7 selection here.
